The cabinets are pre-built and shipped hollow; you simply screw the drivers into them.
There's a decent amount of soldering involved. You may want to get some practice stripping wires and soldering a small electronics kit together before you attempt a VMPS kit. Soldering is not difficult, but you wouldn't want to use your speakers as a learning experience. One "cold" solder joint and your speakers might sound bad. Do a Google search on "how to solder" for some pointers.
I already had soldering experience when I assembled my VMPS kit. I found the experience very rewarding.
