Or, instead of coping some kind of high-end-audio 'tude, you could just explain my infraction. That way, I'll make sure not to commit any more faux pas. On Audiogon, under my username Kolledog, where I currently have 254 positive successful sales and purchases (for a "calculated rating" of 762) I've never been dissed for making a simple offer. Please tell me why it's such a big deal, and I'll stand corrected.

Negotiations, especially actual offers, should be handled privately.  No need for the entire world to see them.  With so much experience on AG I'm surprised you need this explanation.
