Wireless MP3 receivers
« on: 21 May 2004, 01:32 am »
Hey folks,
I'm getting ready to purchase a wireless MP3 receiver box to put into all three of my audio systems, and stream audio from my PC.  Anybody have experience with them?  I'm interested in antenna quality, as some parts of my house have mediocre reception from my wireless router.  Also, what about sound quality?  I'll definitely try to mod mine :)

I'm also interested in the Roku unit, since it plays ogg.  I like Open Source software a lot....  www.rokulabs.com

thanks,
kevin

also take a look at slimdevices.com squeezebox.  weak wifi reception will be a problem particularly with higher bitrate streams.

I would personally try to drop a CAT5 cable and use regular ethernet.  Difficult for some I guess, so that is why they made wireless routing.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hear whether the Ethernet > digital output (for use with ext DAC) is of good quality, i.e. how would it compare to the digital outputs of a good sound card such as EMU 1212 or RME?
