yep......I've got both, I use the 'spin clean' as my pre cleaner, then the VPI. Perfect combination IMO
Spin Clean is great to get the heavy crud off of used records. If you don't go that route, be sure to get a spare cleaning wand for your VPI. Use one to do the first pass on really dirty records, so you aren't dragging dirt in to new records, or ones that are regularly clean...If you really want to get crazy, pick up a third wand and give your records one more pass with distilled/de ionized water after you've done the full clean. That does a nice job at getting any residual fluid out of the grooves and it might even find a little more crud as well.Keep em all in ziplock bags, marked for usage so you don't mix em up!Have a good time with cleaner records!
Here's one more tip for keeping the crud out of those VPI wands...Use a carbon fiber brush (or whatever you'd like to use) to do onepass of heavy dirt, and blow it off with a little compressed air.http://www.tonepublications.com/analogaholic/keeping-those-discs-really-clean/
Wow, if I paid $500.00 or more for a RCM, I'd hope I wouldn't have to rely on my SpinClean to help it out!!!!
