Kismet Links don't work?
« on: 22 Apr 2012, 04:05 pm »
I have heard various Odyssey products and I am interested in the Kismet line. however, the Odyssey site does not offer redirection to the Kismet pages. Has anyone brought this Klaus's attention? How am I supposed to start researching the differences in the stratus to Kismet line? The difference in the Lorelei and the Kismet speaker? I have searched web and there is nothing on Kismet. Any ideas? Calling Odyssey is an idea, but a website should be the place I start. Thanks, mike

The Odyssey website is not really up to date, but it certainly is a step above what was there a couple years ago.

Klaus likes to talk to his customers vs send them to a website and giving him a call is the best bet on getting your questions answered. Etc. He is not a salesman that is just trying to get you to buy something. I agree that it is not always convenient however. Best time to call is late (like 10-11pm EST late)

The Kismet links have been non-operational prior to October 2009, when I inquired about them.  I just assumed Odyssey had all the business and production it could handle through word of mouth.

Absolutely true,  the site needs a serious upgrade, and the Kismet links don't work...by design.
When I started out with the Kismets,  my goal was to sell about 1 a week.  Maybe 1.5.  This amp is incredibly time intensive to make,  figure appr. 25 - 26 hours total PER PIECE !!!!  Figure in that we have been very, very busy,  runnung at 100 % for years now,  the Kismet was to be a special statement product,  and not a volume seller.

Well,  with my intenational partners going nuts,  and the word-of-mouth from existing customers,  the wishful thinking of 4-5 units per month went bye bye a long time ago.  And it would be very easy to raise the pricing from the $ 2,500. tag in order to reign in the orders and make more money,  but I'm really not interested in that either,  as the Kismet is a reference unit and probably  much better deal than any other product that we have    And one thing that I'm not willing to change is the true family - 100 % hand-made approach.  Nope.

But yes,  you guys are correct,  I'll have to revamp the site this year.

Late,

Klaus
