For sale is an Odyssey Dual Mono Amp with Gronneberg Quattro Reference Cables (which Klaus of Odyssey sells and wires his amps with). If you want a beefy solid state rig, this is a great way to go, and the package is a great start on an Odyssey based system.
THE AMPLIFIER:
A seldom seen Dual Mono Stratos “Extreme,” redboard, 180 WPC (compared to 150 for the Sratos Stereo). Basically, 2 monoblocks in one box (requires two power cords). Said by some to be one of Klaus’ better sounding amps; I’ve certainly enjoyed it. I am the second owner, having purchased on Audiogon in Sept 05; it resided happily in my main system until I simplified with an integrated (Pass INT-30A). MSRP approximately $2200, transferable warranty.
Sonically, the amp functions as designed. Cosmetically, I would rate it 7 on the Audiogon scale, but that is pretty conservative. There are some light surface imperfections on the casework finish, mostly on the edges of the rear plate, which do not show in the photos. Additionally, one of the power switches in the back sometimes flickers; this is a cosmetic, and not functional issue, involving the switch light; Odyssey recommended against replacing it. The faceplate is new ($135.00), and pristine. Overall, the amp is a looker, in the no nonsense, muscular, Odyssey aesthetic.
THE CABLES:
Two 5’ Groneberg Quattro Reference PCs. As I recall, the pair was MSRP $150. I replaced the Wattgate terminations with Furutech F1-11, at a cost of around $160 bucks.
One 3’ Gronneberg Quattro Reference IC, with locking RCA terminations, MSRP $175
This is a big bear to ship, and a sale reasonably local to St. Louis would be an excellent idea. But I’ve got the original packaging, and will triple box, so if shipping is necessary, it should not be an issue.
