RIP indeed. He lived longer than his long struggle with cancer portended. And while doing so encouraged so many musicians, besides making great music on his own.

When I get off of this mountain I know where I wanna go....RIP Levon. You gave us so much great music and brought joy and smiles to so many. I feel truly blessed to have been able to see you so often these last few years and you never failed to have us up and dancing. Say hey to Rick and Richard; they've been missing your beats.

  I feel sadness in my heart today. I did not know Levon personally but he spoke to me many times through his music and I always felt like he was my best friend after hearing him. A true living legend, no longer with us.

Levon was dear to many of us in New York's Hudson Valley. His 1000 watt smile, that unmistakeable back beat, the magic of his Midnight Rambles held in the living room of his great timber-framed home. God, how I'll miss that man!
