Based on the Inside Track™ 2012 independent dealer survey, Bryston has achieved outstanding results!!!

Bryston was ranked in the top ten in 16 categories, the top five in 9 categories and ranked NUMBER ONE in 4 categories including Product Performance and Product Reliability. As the survey noted, “Bryston essentially owns first place for both Product Performance and Product Reliability in this group, having finished in the top spot nearly innumerable times. The truly amazing thing is that they keep beating their most formidable competitor - themselves!” Bryston finished with a #2 overall ranking amongst all surveyed brands, a mere 1/100th of a grade point behind #1 ranked Peachtree (to whom Bryston offers sincere congratulations).

Outstanding, James. Bryston walks the walk!

James wouldent the average be 4.75 out of 10(Overall) if all categories are combined and then divided to the average rank and number of categories?.....maybe my math is off.

I notice that Bryston is ranked 1st in all categories that they have complete control of. Independant of outside interference which no doubt brought their ratings down in  the other categories.

I suppose we have the choice of either playing around with numbers to support a pre-determined narrative or we can salute the acheivement of a group of hard-working people striving to do the best they possibly can and succeeding consistently.
Further to choices, it should be noted that if someone has nothing positive to say about something, the option of saying nothing is always available to them.

It isn't a score, it's a rank.  And it doesn't say anywhere that it's out of 10.  Could be out of 100.  We'd have to know how many total brands were considered in the study.

Another brand may score #1 in "Ease of doing Business" and #57 in "Obtainable profit margins".  Even assuming the math is right, Bryston's hypothetical 4.75 could still have an average overall ranking of #2 versus the rest of the field.

Certainly an option that I exercise quite often myself, but I am not really sure it is good an option?
After all I am more interested to hear negative opinions about products instead of just biased unfounded praise, I think it would be more beneficial to consumers?
My comment of course is not related to Bryston which I consider to be a manufacturer of outstanding products or to the bashing wrapped up into a wail of constructive criticism that triggered your response.

Congrats James!  :thumb:

Looking at the rankings I think Bryston has got its focus and priority in the right areas. These indicates very high ratio in price versus performance and is the core in this business.

Product Performance ranked #1

Product Reliability ranked #1

Technical Support ranked #1

Resolution of Service/Return/Repair Issues ranked #1

However, dealer network support or developments need some tweaking which would also enhance branding and sales.

Congrats James & Co.  You guys are truly a class-act which other companies should aspire to.  Hopefully you're taking your employees out for a nice dinner to congratulate them on a job well done  :green:

Out of curiosity, approximately how many manufacturers are ranked/represented in this survey?   10? 100? 1000?  How many dealers?

Not that I'm bashing Peachtree by any means, but exactly how are you guys ranked behind them?   They're a good product, but obviously not Bryston - sound quality-wise, warranty, reliability, etc.  I've seen a bunch of guys posting on forums about reliability issues with them.  Although they almost always say Peachtree was excellent in resolving the issues, the issues still exist.

Again, not bashing Peachtree.  I just can't see how you have so many #1 rankings, especially in the most important areas, and not be #1 overall.

Agreed, Sasha. As I've said before, I'm not really much of an audiophile but I'm not much of a fanboy, either. I just don't see the necessity of negating all the effort put in by a group of people working hard to succeed despite pretty shaky economic conditions with a comment like the one which was made. Negative opinions can have a positive effect but there's nothing to be gained by such comments in a situation like this. It's just weak and uncalled for.

Perhaps, it is just that they are a bit more of an entry level item?  Just a guess.  I found some stuff for 2011:

Thanks Phil.  Seeing that answers a lot of questions about what it's all about.
