Donald wanted Supercharged SongTowers and searched to find just the right veneer for them.  He chose pepperwood burl, a wood we had never used before.

Unfortunately, my photography skills are such that you probably won't be able to tell just how gorgeous these speakers look in person.  I think they are among the most beautiful speakers we have ever produced...just spectacular (of course, I'm biased).

Here is a photo...

And a close-up...

Happy listening Donald!

Jim,

I am not biased and I think this is one of the nicest looking speakers you have produced.   :thumb:

While I fully appreciate the level of effort and execution on Pete's new speakers, I think these are better (or at least more in line with my tastes).

Those are among my favorites too! :thumb: I definitely prefer a one piece baffle and when you don't accentuate the corners. Sorta like a solid wood monolith.

I don't usually comment on the speaker fineshes even though I think that they are all quite nice but these in particular just look so classy and luxurious for lack of a better word. Indeed, very nice funiture grade pieces!

Agreed.  This just became my new favorite veneer.  Wow - they are outstanding!  Congratulations, Donald, and welcome to the Salk family.  And thanks for giving me veneer ideas for when I'm able to upgrade to another speaker in Jim's lineup; pepperwood is fantastic!

P.S. Those pepperwood plinths are just awesome! :thumb:

Thanks everyone. I can hardly wait to get home on my computer to view. I will definitely have to give Jim a personal thank you. That said I've been in the Salk family for a while now as I own L/C/R Songtowers in Crotch Mahogany. I also ordered Songsurronds 1's for my rears in Mahogany. It won't be long now  :D

agree with the above posts...nice
Crotch Mahogany is pretty nice too!

Many years ago Jim did a pair of HT1 in Camphor Veneer
with a hand rubbed surface, he had them at RMAF
....I lusted after those all weekend.  Timing was not good for
a purchase.

Wow...I'd like to see those in person!  Salk owners know that pictures just don't do these speakers justice.

I'm generally not a fan of "fancy" veneers, but those are stunning! :thumb:

Oops...looks like my comments were posted about the same time as BRMs photos.  Just to be clear, my comment wasn't directed at his gracious provision of additional pictures

Pete thanks for the added pics of my speakers. I can hardly wait to set them up and spin some disc's, ( cd's ). I've been saving a few new ones just for the occasion and a good bottle of wine. :D

I love that the beauty of wood stirs the heart for Jim even after all these years. I am the same way. My wife catches me often putting a finish on beautiful pieces of wood that I haven't built anything with yet. I can't help it.

This is a test to determine if linking the photos directly from our site works better than uploading the images to audiocircle...

I think it does.
