Any Vinyl Rippers out there?
« on: 2 Apr 2012, 03:59 am »
I have a small collection of LP's I'd like to rip to 24bit/96khz FLAC or WMA files (lossless). Are there any audiophiles out there who are good at doing this? I would expect the person would have an excellent cleaning system as well as a top notch turntable, interconnects, ADC, high quality capture and editing software, etc.

I have ripped about a dozen LPs.  I went from my pre-amp's tape out directly into my windows  laptop using a rca to mini adapter.  I used Audacity to record each side.  Audacity allows a variety of sample rates and word lengths to choose from.  I normally use 24/48 but I have used 24/96 with good results.  The Audacity files are then configued as wave files.  I then used dbpoweranp to convert the wave files to flac.
I have made CDs from the wave files and played the flac files through my SB touch.  The results will be more dependent on the condition the LP than your system given "normal" Vinyl Circle standards.

Going direct from turntable to ARC REF Phono 2SE to Nagra LB studio 2 track dig recorder at 24/96.  The cleanliness is really important. Also using the Furutech DeMag and DeStat with excellent luck to grab those last few pops and clicks.
