Problem with iTunes downloads
« on: 1 Apr 2012, 02:22 pm »
I have a problem with my downloads from iTunes. first let me give you my set up i download primarily from iTunes from there I moved my music to an external internal hard drive Western Electric 1tb and I use the squeezebox touch is my music server. I've been downloading music for years I have up to 20,000 downloads so I'm pretty familiar with how to move my music around. The problem is recently about 10 albums that I've downloaded, during the playing of the songs, the music just stops. The counter keeps going but the music stops. This has happened on the last 10 downloads that I downloaded from iTunes. The interesting thing is I bought the same albums from Amazon with no problems whatsoever so I'm wondering is this an iTunes issue or is there something wrong with my settings? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced their music stopping and the counter continuing to count? Thanks

wow, 10 albums, guessing it's one of the following:
1) Download was interrupted and didn't correctly resume.
2) HDD is full during period of download.... Keep in mind that iTunes will download to the local drive if the external drive isn't connected, so check both and the location iTunes reports for the file.
3) Least likely, but perhaps there was a HDD failure.

Review the files size for the songs that won't playback and if they don't look reasonable you can redownload them from iTunes.

Within my library, I have found one song last year that was corrupt and that corruption made it to my backups as well.  My situation is probably extremely rare, but was easily addressed by re-ripping the CD.  In your case with 10 albums, guessing there was an issue during the time of download, so just use iTunes to re-download again.
