Losing connection on MPoD
« on: 26 Mar 2012, 01:13 pm »
I have been using an itouch loaded with MPoD with the BDP-1. Everything works great except for two quirks.

1. Losing connection often. I then need to reboot the itouch or simply off then back on again the airplane mode
2. Consume option - often this setting does not save and I need to reselect it

Anyone else have a simialr problem? Possible solutions?

MPOD kept freezing up on me so frequently I simply stopped using it on iPhone and went back to Gnome on my Netbook.

As I have said several times, the BDP-1 is a great unit but the interfaces are primitive and leave a lot to be desired.

I really do not understand what is happening - I have used mpad and mpod at home and use mpad and mpod at the Montreal Show we just attended and had 3 systems setup for 4 days and no issues what so ever - very strange

Hi,
I am using mpod for three month now with a router connected directly to my BDP-1 (mancave option) with no issue at all except that I cannnot save a playlist with mpod (apparently a bug to be fixed) but use mini 2 for saving playlist and is available in mpod afterward.  Does your ipod latest generation, might be the problem.

I had a similar problem with mpod - ipod would drop connections constantly or would freeze.  I finally gave up and am using gnome on my laptop with good success.

Only time mPod/mPad have locked up with me is when BDP was turned off or power was recycled.  I've never had an issue though.  Does anyone have an unusually large library?

A quicker way to restart mPod/mPad is to kill the background task: just double click the home button so that the list of running apps appear, hold down on the app until the "-" icon appears and you can close mPod/mPad.  This is close to the same way as deleting an app, so don't click the icon if the "x" appears, which means you didn't double click correctly.

The only complaint I have with mPod/mPad is the 180 seconds it takes to redownload the mpd database to the phone.

Hi All,

Regarding your first issue I would recommend that you try mini 2 or mini to see if the issue persists.  When you open the web apps in safari don't forget to bookmark them to your home page.  This will allow them to make use of the entire screen and act more like an app.  Secondly I may be able to provide a solution for your consume issue.  I just need to be at a bdp-1 to make sure I have the startup script correct in my head.

Cheers
Chris

Jim

that's quite fast actually, taking longer and longer in my situation:

fortunately it doesn't really take that long most of the time  :D

Hi uncognito,

Bryston BDP-1 software has three options: Max, Mimi, Mini2.

Hi,

Open safari on your itouch, but instead of entering a web address (ie www.bryston.com) enter the ip address of the bdp-1.  You will see some icons come up.  Select mini or mini 2, once on the mini 2 web app, use the bookmark icon to bookmark to home screen.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi qkot,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you about the about the consume feature, but i wanted to double check with one of my BDP's before posting.  In the settings page for the BDP, in the left colomn, one of the options is "Startup Script" (S1.16 or newer).  On this page there is a large text area, this text area allows you to create a custom script that runs upon startup.  by entering the following in this text area will unable the consume mode upon startup.

Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
mpc consume

Then finally click apply.  To ensure that the script file is properly updated and saved to the flash card you should click "System" from the left column and then "Reboot BDP-1"

Cheers,
Chris
