That's a really nice piece Frank.

I especially liked the picture of the crew.

This part of your response to this question, Frank, I think you repeat often to as many people as possible about your philosophy/methodology.

"LB: In designing your products, how much emphasis do you place on measurements, and how much on listening? Do you ever encounter significant discrepancies between the two? If so, how do you resolve this for the final design?

FVA:

In general, if it measures bad, it is bad, even if it sounds pretty good. If it measures good but sounds bad, then it is still bad, it’s just that we have not found why the measurements have not been adequate so far. Our final products must both measure and sound right."

Nice interview.  I loved the excellent (and large) pictures!  They are a lot better that what you can see on your web site.  How about adding them to your site?

Audio by Van Alstine is not alone in that regard.  Several large manufacturers have much lesser photos on their own website than are available on Audio Advisor, one of their dealers.

Which is a shame, because large, ultra-sharp, high-resolution photos help sell equipment and all manufacturers should take advantage of a such a great advertising tool that doesn't take a lot of resources to implement.

Great interview and yes, great picture! It's nice to be able to put a face together with the amp, the preamp and the dac.  :thumb:

Good to see a talented team that really care and believe in what they are doing.  Science before profit is rare in the audio industry nowaday.

I always thought Jensen Stereo shop was after Van Alstine system, not before, now I  know.

Larger resolution photos ARE on the website, yet there's no way to click through to them. If you go to the Fet Valve 600R webpage here:

http://www.avahifi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=263&Itemid=210

And copy the URL of the image (http://www.avahifi.com/images/stories/ava/fetvalvebroski/fet%20valve%20amp.png) and paste it into a new browser tab you can see a much larger image.

I have often wondered why the pics on the website have the equipment positioned in a matter that emphasizes the case instead of the face and rear. Personally, I want to see the control and connection layout. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
