Photoshop of the Day

Okay, I am still learning how to use CS5. Perhaps I'm not spending enough time to learn. But I am learning new technics as I go, sometimes after hours of experimenting.

So I thought it may be interesting to see the artistic creations of photo editors. You don't have to reveal your secrets, nor do you have to tell us exactly what you photoshopped if it's not obvious. Only that the photo was edited in some way other than the usual exposure, brightness, color tone.

Here's my latest effort.

It's obvious.  Even at computer screen resolution there is a very noticeable area of blur and aliasing around the plane.  I don't know if the TECHNIQUE can be improved, or if a manipulation like that just requires an hour of post pixel touch-up painting.

Here's one I did several years ago. It was the final project in a Photoshop (ver. 3.5) class, at the local community college. Each student was allowed to print one copy of their project, for themselves. I was asked to print two. The instructor wanted one.... I've had a lot of comments over the years.

This isn't mine but I find it amazing:

Also, I think it's incredibly helpful and upstanding that the artist is willing to answer so many in-depth technical questions in the comments section.

I did this a while back as a quick, just for fun pic.  Commercially acceptable... no.  Good for a smile, yes!

Getting a better handle on photoshop basics after a few lessons from CS4 book.

Also downloaded CS6 Beta which I've been practicing with basic editing tools. So far I've found better control with selection tools that I'm familiar with.

Good start. Next focus on your lighting and color saturation so it is consistent across the whole picture.

Okay thanks, I didn't use the layer adjustments correctly.
How's that, better?
