I built this to power my iMods (the Red Wine Audio modification to the iPod), which I've since sold.

Contains Acopian linear regulated power supply module, as you see in the photo.  The 5EB150 model number means 5 VDC output, 1.5 Amps max.  Output jacks are the 2.1mm connections.  Includes cabling, also shown in photos.

$80 shippping included.

The Acopian modules retail for $126, but can occasionally be found on eBay for a lot less.  I have a couple extra... $25 each shipping included.

Hello -

I'm back...My new/trial period 2TB outboard hard drive didn't work out, so I back to using another Oyen Digital micro drives which use 5VDC.  Now I have two in a daisey chain configuration by firewire.

I would have to modify your PS to use the power supply cable jack that plugs into the micro drive.  I can pull one from some other wall wart.

My question is - would you happen to know if your PS would have enough juice to power the two Oyen micro drives?  I see it is listed as 1.5 Amps.  That sure seems sufficient to power two microdrives.   Do you think there would any issues with this approach?   I'll double check tonight to see what the wall wart PS amp rating are.

Thanks
Ken

Microdrives are pretty much just flash memory cards, right?  If so, I think 1.5A would be plenty.  (It's actually an Acopian power module doing the work in the USB power supply, and their hardware seems pretty robust.)   I believe I have two of these power supplies--I can check when I get home tonight--so in the unlikely event that one is insufficient, I could sell you the second one.

Regardless, chances are that the current rating of your wall wart will be substantially more than 1.5A.

If microdrives are substantially more than just flash memory, someone please correct me!  :o

Thanks for the reply.  We should probably move this to "The Lab" forum.  In any case, the Oyen microdrive is a typical outboard hard drive, just in a 2.5" laptop size drive.  I got sidetracked last night and didn't get to fish out the Oyen wall wart.  I'll report back on that asap.
