Don't waste money plastering the house
« on: 16 May 2004, 09:17 am »
I haven't had any time (or space) to do any audio for 6 months because of the never-ending renovation, but last weekend we stuffed the ceiling and walls with insulation before starting the plastering.

SIGNIFICANT improvement in acoustics will all that fluffy polyester around. I'm thinking that the plaster will just muck it up again. ;-)

Mind you, since the reception I got from bringing home the 3m, 300mm dia tube for the Transmission Line sub, I think my no-plaster proposal is a "long shot"  :-D

300mm*3m TL sub?

are you building an El-pipo?

Personally I just don't ever see my missus going for something like that, no matter how well she puts up with me now!

Propstuff, I am always flabergasted whenever I see your work, I realise it's your job, but do you have to go around making all our chassis efforts look third rate?

Nice of you to say so Echidna, and yes it is my job, and yes, a hell of a lot of work, but a lot less than Hugh (and other tweakers) has put into making the Aksas SOUND good.

So you really owe it to him to pull the plaster off the walls for optimum acoustic effect. (or perhaps, as an alternative, staple polyester batts to the inside of the plaster). :-))

cheers,
N.
