Any Swiss member able to help me please?
« on: 19 Mar 2012, 02:59 am »
I have a Swiss telephone number for someone in Bern, but I cant seem to get through when dialling from Australia. I just wondered if anyone can help me to check that I have the correct number of digits required for the local Bern area...the number is like this:
+4179/429 XX XX

(I just replaced the last 4 digits with 'x's for privacy!)

Does this appear to be a correct number for Bern?

I sent this Audio Circle member some money to buy a turntable from him plus also had an Alphason tonearm sent to him to fit to the table, in July last year and now he has disappeared although he has posted from time to time on other audio sites! I am desperately trying to contact him!
Thanks,
Mark

Dialing code for Bern is 31 not 79 !

79 is Swisscom mobil.

Yes, as said earlier, this is a cell phone number and the person could be anywhere in the country. The city code for Bern is 31.  Try looking up the person's number here:

Thanks guys, it is a mobile number, and once I didnt worry about an area code, I finally got through.

However, I got a recorded message, I assume in German, but I dont know if it is saying the number is disconnected, or if it a message service!?

So, if there is any Swiss member (or German speaking member) who might be able to help me further, I would appreciate it. I think I would need someone to ring the number and decipher what the message is.

Thanks.

Hi, Toni.  Where is Ganymede?  Thank you.

My pleasure - but that's a philosophical question.

It's not down under, it's above - so to speak: Ganymede

John, I am in Adelaide, South Australia ;-)

Sadly, it appears I may have been ripped off by this guy, he has posted occasionally on this site and has 4,000+ posts on the Vinyl Engine website, but refuses to reply to any of my many emails and PM's...disappointing after we had corresponded for several months before I decided to buy a turntable from him in August last year.

I dont want to see any other Audio Circle members suffer my same fate, so user name "******", can you please make an appearance here to clear your reputation, and either refund what me I have paid you OR send me the turntable and tonearm that I have paid for!

(Edited to remove Users name as requested)

spa317,

I empathize with you and I have dialoged with member bastlnut before....but, we have a policy of 'no dirty laundry' here at AC and you have now crossed the line in mentioning the member by name.

We don't know all the relevant details of your transaction with him, nor heard his side of the affair.  Nonetheless, AC is an audio forum and we try not to get involved in disputes such as this for many reasons that we have encountered over the past decade of operation.

I'd ask that you remove your post above - or at least mention of his name.  I will, in turn, remove this post I am making now.

Thanks, John / Facilitator
