Crux is an interconnecting patch cable designed for the analog transmission of balanced line-level signal. Crux cable assemblies are made to set lengths and are exactly matched. The design and processes used to create Crux yield a very consistent high tolerance interconnect.
Direction is set at the factory. Crux cable is made in the USA by one of the world leaders in high performance cable technology, one of only a few cables that are not made in-house.
High conductance heavy silver plated copper conductors with PTFE insulation. Screen is also high conductance silver plated copper, 98% ultra high frequency shielding. Signal is carried in a basic twisted pair cable geometry. Outer insulation is PTFE air-type tape with black polyester mesh sheath.
XLR 3-PIN CONNECTOR DETAIL
CRUX XLR cables feature silver plated Neutrik connectors. And as both male and female pins are guarded against exposure to common contaminants, like the halides present on your hands, they are essentially trouble free.
Pin 2 = high signal (+)
Pin 3 = low signal (–)
Pin 1 = chasis ground
CONNECTOR OPTIONS
Crux cables can be fitted with balanced 1/4" [6.3mm] phone connectors, commonly known as TRS connectors. Like the 3-pin XLR connectors, they are full potted. Crux can be terminated TRS to XLR, TRS to TRS, XLR to TRS. Regardless of connectors needed, the Crux logo should always be placed at the source side to ensure the best tone and stereophonic imaging.

BURN-IN
Crux will sound good right out of the box but for the best sound it will require roughly 400 hours of play due mostly to the PTFE dielectric material. We do not recommend any burn-in devices or special recordings. We do recommend music you enjoy, preferably upbeat full spectrum recordings. Rock, roots, full orchestra, most film scores, big band.... For the possible hows and whys about burn-in please see our FAQ section of ZuAudio.com.
