This is a well cared for VPI Mk IV with TNT Mk IV lead lined (17 lb) platter and Mk IV bearing and original, factory spring suspension.  Also included is a new JMW 10.5i with new Dynavector 20x MC mounted and aligned.

This Mk IV factory 'table was purchased in 2009 from an audio reviewer based in NYC who was the original owner.  Although used regularly (and it showed) the 'table was never abused and was in fine operating condition.  The 10.5i and Dyna were purchased new around the same time.

I've just recently reconditioned the chassis, drilled the Super Arm Board for the 10.5 and mounted a Dyna 20x (1mv output).  Spindle to pivot is dead on per the VPI gauge.  The Dyna has been aligned with the VPI alignment gauge and azimuth has been set as recommended.  All is correct with the alignment and has worked well without issues across a few album sides.  Damping fluid well remains empty.

Here's the skinny on the bit parts...

Chassis - Motor maintains speed extremely well.  Pwr switch works well.  The platter acrylic is in very good shape.  The platter aluminum shows a bit of age and has a scratch or two on the edge.  TNT bearing runs smooth and silent to the ear.  The wood base was sanded and repainted with semi-gloss black and multiple coats of clear lacquer.  The chassis now has close to the same appearance as the acrylic plinth and arm board.  Chassis was missing the motor cover when purchased and it's still missing.

Tonearm/Base - The 10.5i was purchased two years ago and just recently mounted.  It has seen no use other than alignment checks and perhaps 3-4 album sides.  Mechanically the arm is perfect and as new.  The anti-skate option is included and mounted but I'm presently working with VPI's 'full twist' method.  Results have been good so far.  (Removal of the anti skate will require tracking force to be reset.)

There are a few places on the arm that on close inspection show small blemishes/stains in the satin finish.  These are not glaring or obvious and most are not visible with the arm in place but none the less they are present.  Seems there was a contaminant on the surface for the two years the arm remained in the box.

Cartridge - As new with only 60 - 90 minutes of playing time.  By a good margin the Dyna is the finest source I've ever had in my system.

Other:
  • New belt.  Older one also included.
  • NIB 5" dustcover with hinges
  • VPI bearing lube
  • All of the arm accessories (tools, mounting hardware, damping fluid, alignment gauges, Shure stylus force gauge)

Asking $2900.  Reasonable offers will be considered.

The table, arm and cart are presently installed in my system .  I'd be happy arrange a demo for any serious buyer(s).

It's unimaginably difficult to not spin album after album on this setup but I'm doing my best for the new owner.  I hate to part with it but present situation forces sale.

Local audition and pickup is greatly preferred.  However, I do have original packaging and will box the equipment for shipping.  Coordination of shipping, freight and insurance are the responsibility of the buyer.  I'll assist where/when I can.

Thanks for looking.  If you have questions please post or let me know.

Cheers!
