Internet Radio Stations for Singer/Songwriter Music

I just resurrected my Squeezebox after over a year in exile. (The SB, not me ). Even before I mothballed it my favorite stations had gone defunct. "Women of Rock" was one of them.

The new SB categories don't seem to offer what I want. I would appreciate recommendations for internet stations that play singer/songwriter music. Artists who cover that type of music but don't write much on their own are also welcome if they do great covers like Eva Cassidy did. It could be either acoustic or rock. It could be folksy, blues, or contemporary.

I will list some of my current and past favorite artists so you will have a better idea of what I am talking about. I don't need a station that plays their music exclusively.  I have their CDs and a much better playback system for them than SB offers. What I am looking for is new artists that will make me want to buy their CDs.

Current and past faves:

Joni Mitchell
Emmylou Harris
Melody Gardot
Lucinda Williams
Laurie Anderson
Michelle Shocked
Kate Wolf
Tom Rush
Ian Tyson
Bruce Springsteen
Hans Theessink

Thanks for any suggestions.

I like Radio Paradise. A wide range of music from classic rock to new performers.

If you don't mind a few bucks, Pandora might be exactly what you are looking for.  Seed some channels with a few of your favorite artists, and let them find more like them.

You can also use the radio functions of both Spotify and Mog for free. Both have an enormous selection of music.

I also dig KCRW Eclectic 24 station. http://www.kcrw.com/music/eclectic24

Thank you all for the suggestions.  Please keep them coming.  It will take me a while to fully explore each one.

I am listening to Radio Paradise now on my 2.1 computer system. I have not figured out how to get it and options like Spotify onto my SB and my "big rig" main system. Is it possible to do that?

Your list of artists looks like it could have come out of my collection, and I find The Loft on XM Radio to be a musical gold mine.  They're a bit more diverse than your list, but it would be represented very heavily.  I believe you can stream a low-quality version for free, although I'm not entirely sure. The full internet stream is $3/mo or so I think - we have it on top of 2 physical radios, so I'm not quite sure how the cost breaks down.

I liked what I saw when I looked at Mog too, although I haven't gotten to the point of trying it yet.

I am resurrecting this thread.

Once again my Squeezebox has been pulled from mothballs.  What I would like are suggestions for specific free stations.  For example "Acoustic Pie" or "Radio Paradise" or "Acoustic Outpost".  Live 365 and some other offerings have so many choices that just mentioning them is not helpful.  Specifics please.  And free please.  I do not anticipate an amount of use that would warrant a subscription.  I am just looking for some new music and periodic diversion from my  personal collection.

Thanks,  Don

Apparently there have been some changes made since I last used the beast.  I can access my saved favorite stations but I cannot figure out how to search for new stations using mysqueezebox.com.

My account is active and I can access it but I cannot find any search function to search by genre.  I have the Live365 app installed but I cannot find a way to search its offerings.  I know I populated my favorites by searching by genre. Now I cannot find any search function either in general or under Live 365.

Second question: I see an option to access favorite streams as OPML.  What the heck is that?
