Just wondering if a Rega Planet would make me as happy as an Ack dAck--

1) Ack's goal is to give that nice vinyl-type mid-range --

2) my impression is that Rega also strives for "vinyl voicing"

I realize that there are greatly different design topologies in terms of sampling etc., but both seem to strive for a similar end result.

As attractive as the Ack is, there is also an attraction to a one-box player-- convenience as will as lack of interconnect.

I am currently enjoying my Bolder Mensa DIO, but vinyl is my reference point, so wonder about trying these other options. I don't recall seeing the Ack and Planet compared.

I had a Rega Planet 2000 in here a little while ago and it's a killer player for the price.  It's not as silent as the dAck (what is?) and it's midrange is not as good either, but it is voiced in a similar manner.  It's quite refined, but can still rock out- better than the dAck/Parasound Belt Drive combo, but I stupidly had the transport on an air mass which just killed the PRAT, so I'd like to redo the comparison.  As a DIE HARD vinyl fan, I could live with either.

I have a Rega Planet (the older version) and an Ack dAck.

The dAck has qualities unmatched by the Planet. I really favor the dAck, and I think the Planet makes for a really nice transport for it.

I can only compare the Rega Jupiter (better than the Planet) vs. the Scott Nixon DAC (similar technology to the Ack!).

I'll take the Nixon DAC any day, hands down. Non-oversampling sounds more like analog.

What about Rega Planet  vs Mensa DIO ?  Has any one compared them before ?
