R.I.P. Stanley
« on: 24 Feb 2012, 05:12 pm »
I had to put my companion and buddy for the last eleven years down yesterday.

Stanley was the perfect little friend, a sweet grey striped tabby cat that always wanted to be near me and talked to me all the time.

Very unfortunately, during the past year he lost the desire to use the litter box with any regularity.  The messes got worse and worse.

The vets examined him thoroughly and said no physical problems. I tried different litter, more boxes, everything possible, but the situation finally got beyond my ability to keep under control.

Very very sadly, yesterday he had to go.  There was no hope of placing this 11 year old kitty in some other home, that would just have given the problem to someone else.  He was a indoor cat only, no chance of him surviving outside.  I hated to do it, and my home is way too empty now.

The next project is complete carpet replacement before I could even think of another cat.

He was loved and well cared for and except for this one bad thing, he cared for me very well too.

Goodby Stanley, my little buddy.  I will really miss you.

I had to go through the same thing last November with my cat Baby (that's her in my avatar) after a short struggle with cancer. It's never easy to say goodbye. Best wishes, Frank.

Stanley was part of a matched set. His look alike buddy was named Oliver. Either or both would always greet me at the front door, sitting on top of the steps, eying up who the visitor(s) might be.

They also enjoyed helping me do CAD work on my laptop, sometimes jumping on my computer to point out what keys to hit next, or maybe they were simply after my mouse.

Both were very friendly and seemed to find their way into the mix.

Unfortunately, that fateful day always seems to come......

RIP Stanley. And Frank, enjoy the memories.

I kinda know what you are feeling. I while back we had to put both of our dogs down with in a year. One was 16 years old but the other one was only seven, she had cancer.
Hang in there buddy, spring is comming!

Frank,
I am sorry to hear about your loss. It is always difficult saying goodbye to such close companions. It must be something about the breed that attracts them to audio ...

Although I didn't know your little pal Frank, it is always hard to lose them.  More people than people with us sometime, sometimes just the little turd we didn't need dicking with us, always missed when gone.  My heart is out there for you, as I've had mine in the past, and I'm sure this one wont last forever.  At least they are our friends for a while.

Sorry for your loss Frank. I wouldn't have kept you on the phone so long if I would have known.

I'm struggling with the same issue with my 17 year old cat, Sadie. She'll go next to the litter box but not in it. We put puppy pads next to the box and she's going on them right now. I don't know how long that will last. We know we'll have to put her down pretty soon but she's such a sweet little thing ... it's gonna be awfully tough to do.  :(

Sorry to hear about Stanley Frank. We have all been thru it with pets. The best thing to do,as I've seen happen to freinds of mine to lessen the greiving time is to go right out to the local animal shelter and save the life of a new cat.The new cat might not live up to Stanley, but they always will keep you busy and remember that you sprung them out of jail.....Mark Korda

Frank,
so sorry for your loss. I hope you get a new companion soon. I lost one of my cats after a year long battle with cancer. I have three girls who are my constant companions.
God bless.

Sorry to hear of you loss :( . I had to put my lab of nearly 11 years down a few years ago due to a fast moving cancer. She had just 3 days after diagnosed.  It was the the worst day of my life  :bawl:, no doubt. I had to get another dog and waited 6 months for a new litter. I drove from PA to Arkansas. Yes, I love animals.

Sorry for your loss. You did everything anyone could do. My roommate is a 14 pound black cat. I have been reduced to just being his man servant  :D Take a couple months off and then visit your local animal shelter.

My condolences as well Frank. I have had to say farewell to my own pet family members over the years. It's never an easy thing to do. Remember the good times with your friend.

My condolences are added to the list.  I lost Samara on Nov. 6, 2011 to a vehicle strike.  It had been some years since I had a pet as my younger adult life was tended to the nomadic, I was not prepared for that crushing blow.
