Sigur Rós!  Pretty chill stuff.  To see if they're your cup o' tea, check out the track   Svefn-g-Englar.  I especially enjoy the album ().

Also check out Boards of Canada (The Campfire Headphase; Geogaddi).

Others:  Carbon Based Lifeforms, Shpongle, ISHQ (Cool track:  Bhakti), FC Kahuna, STS9, Lemon Jelly.

Dark side of electronic:  Robert Rich, Steve Roach, ANAHATA, Adham Shaikh.

HI Chinaski:
I like Ambiemt Music, but I know basically just Steve Roach, then I wonder why you consider Steve Roach and these artist being Dark Side??
Thanks

Dark (to me) = far more intense.  Much of what I call "Dark" reminds me of floating around in space, untethered, and without a clear path home.  I suppose others may fly tethered?!  Or melt into their comfy chairs.

Steve Roach example:   In the Catacombs (Again) from the album Throne of Drones.

I could've just said "Intense" as a descriptor instead but it's not as colorful!

How about we call it "Melt" Electronica?

Thanks pal for your reply, I may no apt to label SR, maybe I could call his music as ''organic''.
But The magnificent Void is not Organic at all, it seems to be cosmic and astronomical as Karajan at the BPO.
Seems SR is a composer in constant change.

Hi.  First post.  As I love this musical genre, I'd like to mention a couple of artists that might interest some of you.

Air - Pretty much all their albums is great, except for "10,000 Hz", which I rarely ever listen to
Zero 7 - All albums
William Orbit - Pieces in a Modern Style 2
Massive Attack - I've been listening to "Heligoland" quite a bit lately.

Looking forward to reading other suggestions.

I 2nd the Lemon Jelly suggestion.  Well recorded, quirky, and fun.  Too bad they aren't producing anything together any more.

And if anyone is interested in good old fashioned party-type breaks, take a look at the Stanton Warriors.

I really love some of their remixes and their recent album, The Warriors, is terrific.

Maybe you would like these industrial master pieces from Kluster, when I listen Kluster in 1970s years I instantly be in love with this band.
After Conrad Schnitzler departured, remain only Dieter Moebius and Hans Joachim Roedelius; so the now duet change the band name to Cluster.

Kluster: Eruption (1970, first album to my account): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvn6c0wZY_w

Cluster: Zwei-Osterei (1970, second album): http://www.amazon.com/Zwei-Osterei-Kluster/dp/B000001D7N/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1333107730&sr=1-2

Cluster: Klopfzeichen (1971, third album): http://www.amazon.com/Klopfzeichen-Kluster/dp/B000001D7M/ref=sr_1_4?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1333107730&sr=1-4

All beyboards are real analogue instruments(no cheap digital crap), and concrete music hardware, so the music timbre is a sweet bless.
Cluster are everythibg Kraftwerk could not be, extraordinarie music, and near a hundred of live and studio albums, I unknow a Cluster album with bad music.

Dorit really made me look at this genre a tad differently...LOL....seriously keep the recommendations coming...I like floating either way...hehe....stuff like, heck I don't know what like??  LOL....I'm thinking downtempo, space, float, recliner, verge of sleep music. Hows that? is there such a category??

I got tons of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk(some), Gary Numan(lots), Orbital, The Tron soundtrack guys??? Chemical Bros?? and out there progressive rock- which I also need to find more of.

Downtempo? Give a listen to múm and Sigur Rós. Both from Iceland and, while not necessarily dub, will take you for a ride.

also from Iceland, try  Jóhann Jóhannsson
