If you can get buy with a single input/output for a single souce, Gary Dodd will build you a battery buffer with volume control for much less than the standard mullti-input/output.  Mine should be here any day.  I supplied a Goldpoint attenuator which he installed in the buffer.  Give me a few days with it, and I'll share some impressions.

Otherwise, I'd jump on the one that Trung built that is for sale listed above.  That's a very good deal.  :D

Hi,

I have a Dodd battery preamp in excellent condition that I am going to sell because I am going to consolidate to a single multi channel rig but I am out of the country until the 10th of March.

Let me know if you are interested.

I have a Dodd Audio battery preamp with remote control if you are interested.  It has two Valvo 7308's installed.

I have one just like HAL's.  I can give it the highest recommendation- mine isn't for sale.  :thumb:

If it's in your budget, I'd recommend you get the preamp.  I love the buffer GP w/volume contol but some prefer more gain.  2 volts gives lots of dynamic output, and the buffer does not get congested when played loudly.  I'm sure it's the same with the battery preamps.  And, big soundstage, too.  You're on the right track.

The Dodd stuff will mop the floor with standard SS preamps.  :thumb:
