A really great review written by an engineer (Ing. = Engineer).
But please do not post stuff like this... I have a hard time not replacing my amplifier with a Bryston :)

Very positive review and interesting to say the least.

He suggests that they were the ones who pointed out to Bryston what needed to be done to the SST2 series to make it what it is today.  I wonder how much of what they shared with Bryston was actually the premise for redesign / enhancement?

You know you'll have to do the right thing one day.
Love my 14Bs.

It is a great review.  I wonder what was the upgrade that was mentioned in the review?

If the highs are rolled off then something is wrong with the amp and don't need an upgrade.  A repair maybe.

I think it has been discussed in this forum before. The modification mentioned has been applied to all 14B SSTs from a certain serial number. The former German distributor had applied it to my 14B SST when I had sent it there for a faceplate change.

Sometimes Bryston applies minor changes to its designs without changing the model number. Only if the changes significantly improve performance, a new model number is awarded. That was the case when the 14B ST and 6B ST, the first Brystons with the then new output devices, were that well received by the public, that Bryston renamed them after a further small modification to be the first SSTs.

Cheers!

Hi,

The mod referred to in the review was changing the value of the output inductor to allow a slightly wider bandwidth.
