I want to get a digital system.  Can use my Benchmark DAC with an Imac as a music server?

You can surely do it with ANY DAC.  Are you streaming music or going to directly connect the iMac?

If so, you may need a usb to digital converter e.g. M2Tech, Empirical audio Offramp, etc.

If I recall, some but not all of the Benchmark DACs have USB input built in.  Also, most iMacs have mini-TOSlink output, so even if there is no USB input on the DAC, you would still be able to make things work.

So it'll work.  Whether it is of high quality or not or represents good value, that's a different question and no doubt entirely personal.

Do you already have a Benchmark DAC and an iMac?
