MEMO: To All Bryston Customers                                                                                      February 2012
SUBJECT: Absolute Sound Magazine Awards

Hi Folks,

Bryston is very happy to report that three of our Digital products have received awards from Absolute Sound Magazine. The BDP-1 Digital Player won a 2012 Product of the Year Award and the BDA-1 External DAC, BCD-1 CD Player and the BDP-1 Digital Player won 2012 Editors Choice Awards.

Bryston BCD-1

A CD Player for the ages, this new Bryston is truly reference-calibre at an eminently, reasonable price. The BCD1 sports the latest digital components, an audiophile-grade Class A output stage, user-friendly operation, and durable construction. Particularly impressive are its dramatic dynamics and ability to unravel interwoven musical lines. Buoyant without being lean,

Bryston BDA1

The Bryston BDA1 reveals previously unattainable (from digital) worlds of information about the sound and performance of the music it plays, Though not a quite as sweet-sounding as some, the Bryston is more revealing and rhythmically taut, while still maintaining a relaxed, analog-like presentation.

Bryston BDP1 Digital Player

The astonishing new BDP1 Digital Player is a technological tour de force that bridges generational divides: between the old world CD player and the new world of high-resolution files and music-library management.  The BDP1 performs the same function as a CD transport, but plays data files from removable USB storage media at their native resolution and in a multiplicity of file formats.  As we dedicated CD transports, the BDP1 offers only digital output, in both S/PDIF and AES/EBU formats, for connection to an external DAC. The Bryston BDP1 doesn’t merely “sound better,” the experience of hearing music through it is qualitatively different.  It plays music with unprecedented purity.

This remarkable device single-handedly creates an entirely new product-category-one that bridges the generational divide between the old world familiarity of a CD player and the new world of high resolution files and music-library management, between a past constrained by frustratingly compromised digital audio sound quality and an exciting future in which digital artefacts have finally been reduced to inconsequential levels. The BDP1 plays files from removable USB storage media, at any sampling frequency and bit-depth to 192kHz/24-bit.  Its digital output feeds your outboard DAC.  In addition to its state-of-the=art sound quality, what makes the BDP1 so special is its functionality. Not only does it mimic CD transport controls; it also can connect to a home network, receive Internet Radio, and be controlled by a tablet or other hand-held device.  The BDP1 offers a level of detail, clarity, focus, dynamics, and resolution that is nothing short of revelatory.

A new kind of component for a new age.

Congrats James!!

I couldn't be happier with my Bryston BDP-1/BDA-1 combo.   :thumb: :thumb:

I am glad Absolute Sound (and other reviewers) really understood how the BDP-1 worked and why it was such a clever device.

Wow I wasn't even aware of the BDP-1 until I read this thread. Sounds like everything I could want in such a device.

Excellent James, congratulations.  I'm currently in Chile, which is fabulous.  But I am missing my
BDP-1 and the new car!

Well done James and everyone at Bryston, we all know how great these products are on here but awards like this will hopefully spread the word and educate the poor people who have yet to discover the brilliance of Bryston :thumb:
