B-100 as a preamp
« on: 13 Feb 2012, 02:16 pm »
I just purchased a Bryston 4B, while awaiting for the BP-16 to arrive, I decided to use my B-100 as a preamp. The first night was fantastic all around, but over the weekend. while playing CD's one speaker (the LF) volume would drop by half, almost unable to hear the speaker at all.

Today I connected the B-100 straight and had no problem with the speaker (PMC FB1i's) I guessing the switch which separates the amp from the preamp is dirty and thus the difference. . . any suggestion as too what may be the issue?

Thanks

Tim

On both channels, at the same time? then its not the switches since there are two of them, separately.

No it was only the left channel that dropped out, It is strange it is only a few minutes into a CD track when it problem occurred.

Ah, sorry, yes.
Did you check your cables from the cd player, sometimes the weirdest things can happen.
Otherwise you can take the lid of the B-100 and maybe check the switch from the inside. Dont know if you can see anything there though, been a long time since I popped the hood on mine.
