Bryston 4B SST2 power cord recommendations
« on: 12 Feb 2012, 02:47 pm »
I'm looking for a power cable to pair with my 4B SST2 and would be very interested in hearing what other people are using. I've had good luck with Signal Cable in the past and am in the process of testing an Audio Sensibility "statement" cable. Both sound good  but very different. I've always used Signal Cables with my previous Brystons - but this new test has me interested in what other people are using/enjoying.  My budget is up to $500.

As always - thanks for your help.

Using WireWorld Status 52 with my 4bsst2.  Inexpensive and extremely well made.  A huge step up from a stock cord as far as construction goes.  Also, it's a flat design which I much prefer to those garden hose cords (which I refuse to own).  Alos I prefer the integrated molded connectors that WireWorld uses.  My experience with all of the WireWorld entry level products has been very promising.  Good luck.

I am currently using a for meter Pangea AC-9 on My 4B-SST2.
That is plugged into a Furman REF20i conditioner.
I may go to a pangea AC-9SE eventually

I have a Nordost Vishnu cable(6 ft.) With my 4Bst it renders an overall smoother effect with a slight increase to low level details.  :thumb:.........p.s. this led me to using a Vishnu cord on my  bp25 preamp as well with even greater effect.!

I'm using a pair of 2nd-hand JPS Labs Power AC+ (which should be within your budget) with my 7B's.  They have large 8 gauge that give me the confident of no power restriction.

The results are satisfactory, though I was too lazy to plug the cables in and out and in to compare with stock power cords.  :P

I use a pair of LessLoss Signature power cables on my 7B-SST². They replaced some Nordost Vishnu cables.

Mark,I do not see a single reason that you should be embarassed. :thumb:
Think like this, how many CDs you can buy with the money that some people pay for a better power cord?
I have been using Bryston's stock power cord for over 25 years and I have no problem. :D

Like that has been mentioned before any benefits would depend on your system and hearing acuity .

I'm using a 4B-SST2 Pro as the HF amp driving BMS4590 compression drivers on JBL 2397 "Smith" horns in an actively biamped system—with crossover duties accomplished (of course) by a Bryston 10B (750 Hz @ 18 dB/octave slopes). LF drivers are TAD TL-1603s in 6 cu. ft. cabinets tuned to 32 Hz driven by a McCormack DNA-500 (maybe later I'll get 7B-SST2s).

I've tried the following power cords and neither I nor a sharp-eared friend (who takes power cords much more seriously than I do) could tell the difference:

1. Stock Bryston 14 AWG unshielded power cord
2. Neotech 13 AWG "Ohno continuous cast copper" with Furutech FI-25 series connectors
3. 12 AWG DH Labs Pro Studio with standard Marinco connectors

YMMV.

Thank you! Will have to find a European version though. But I now know what is meant. Looks promising.

They have them for European terminations.
