Hi,
I am looking for some help making a decision. Over the period of a few years I have assembled a very nice tube-based system including a BAT VK 3ix (have had it for ~ 4 years now) pre-amp, Atma-Sphere S30 amp and AudioKinesis JazzModule speakers (both acquired in the last 2 years).
A number of people including Duke from AudioKinesis have commented on the synergy between Atma-Shere components. This has intrigued me. I am wondering if replacing the BAT, which is balanced, with an MP3 might add to my system. I know that the best way to find out would be hearing an MP3 in my system and comparing directly but there is no dealer nearby.
So, any input is appreciated.

My .002 is that I have found the best synergy when using a pre/power combo from the same manufacturer.

Hi Boris....

AC member Greg / Larkston Zinaspic is a local buddy and he has same spkrs and amp as you.  He also has an AS preamp...not sure which model.  I don't think he is really satisfied w the AS pre, and actually prefers a much cheaper pre in his setup.

I don't know that combining gear from same mfr necessarily gives the "best synergy".  It will probably give you something in line with mfr's tastes, but that doesn't mean it matches yours.

Just to clarify further....

I did hear Greg's all AS + AK Jazz Modules system that I referenced above.  I do gotta say that it struck me as just ho-hum.  We both preferred it with a much cheaper direct from China preamp.  FWIW.
