I picked up the LP from Amazon when it first came out. Got a fluky copy with squelches randomely across side 1. side 2 was perfect. The seller sent me a new copy and guess what ...

Side 1 was now perfect and side 2 had random squelches across it. Sent it back and got a refund.

Maybe you got lucky. The CD doesn't sound any better or worse than the LP (when it played correctly) so I am sticking with that.
