Outdoor speakers

I was looking at getting some outdoor speakers... nothing fancy, under $150 total.  I could just go buy some Bose but I can't do it.  I know they hold up well but I don't like way they sound.  (tinny, harsh)  I've heard some stone or rock type speakers at our local mall which impress me every time.  Is there any magic to making an outdoor speaker?  What does it need to be made of to last?

If mounted, they would be under the eave of the house pointing down to a deck.  I don't know what amp I'll use yet.  I could also do a fake planter type thing.  Where the bottom has a speaker sealed inside pointing down and then a plant sits on top.  I've seen them on ebay.  But, they don't fit our style.

Any suggestions on outdoor speakers, premade or DIY are appreciated.

Those look great.  Excellent deal, also.  I've had good luck with Overstock.  However, I bought the ones on ebay.  I have them apart in my garage now waiting to be tested... just haven't gotten around to it.

Now I need a cheap 2-channel reciever/cdp thing.  I have too many systems now... I really don't want to buy another but that's next...

Hope someone else picks up on the rock speakers.
