Maverick audio $200 hybrid integrated Amp.
« on: 6 Feb 2012, 08:15 pm »

The hybrid Class A/B circuit incorporates a pair of matched NOS 6J1 tubes that feed into a solid state final stage capable of driving 20W x 2 into 8 Ohms. It's a necessary compromise to get reasonably high volumes out of an inexpensive design. If you enjoy experimenting with your gadgets, the company offers several tube upgrades including a pair of military grade factory matched Raytheon 6AK5 tubes for $45.

Hmmn, when I first read it, I figured they had buried a T amp into their successful tube pre/USB DAC.

Not so, but too bad, as that might have been a great mix.

Edit: Check twice, post once.

Looks like $400 gets you a killer looking desktop system. With my Macbook Pro and Paradigm Titans nearfield system these would be amazing I bet.

The A1 tube integrated amp makes a very nice sounding desktop set with a more than respectable headphone out. Combined with their newly released D2 dedicated Tube DAC it is great in any second, third system as well.
I have dedicated these two to my wife's Omega Super Fives in her TV "lady cave" and a Squeezebox touch as the music source where she has 400 million Michael McDonald songs on her MOG playlist.  :duh:
Great tubes for both od these can be picked up on the cheap.

That is the new price.  He's not selling it, but is recommending it as a cheap and cheerful choice.

Just to mention, I just ordered a Dayton dta-100a tripath to mate with the Maverick dac/pre. I'm expecting good things. $300.

This might end up being a great combo.  Keep us informed.

I tried this combo and it sounds great.  The tubemagic DAC-1 with the tube upgrade and the DIY opamp upgrade really takes the sound of the DTA100a to another level.  Warmer, smoother, more detailed and punchier bass.
