« on: 4 Feb 2012, 12:55 am »
Minty clean, conservatively rated 9/10 on Audiogon scale; smoke and animal free dedicated audio room. Amps sent to Odyssey & Klaus in Indy for check up and upgrades; returning to NH shortly. These SS amps excel in so many areas; search AC and other forums.

SOLD Price Lowered: $OLD obo USPS MO okay, paypal pays 3%, shipping not included. Odyssey warranty transferable to second owner; Klaus' service and advice is second to none. Reason for sale: Zu Omen Definition speaker's 98dB v. gain of Odyssey amps; I only require a flea powered amp now. Conservatively rated 9 of 10 on A-Gon scale. These are heavy @ approx. 66 lbs each. Local NH pick up is ok and will save some $; will ship in original boxes with extra padding throughout (spouse is CFO for a medical equipment company and her company has to pack extremely well!)

Please note the Extreme Monos retail for $3,200 / pair.

Information from the Odyssey Audio site follows:
Stratos Mono Extreme, improvements over mono model
  • $3,200 USD (pair)
  • 1 x 200+ Watts RMS @ 8 Ohms (each)
  • High Class A /AB
  • Additional 60,000µF memory bank for 180,000µF total (each)
  • >120 amps current delivery
  • Additional 400 VA Plitron transformer for 800VA total (each)
  • Higher performance parts:
Nichicon Muse capacitors, Vishay/Dale resistors, extra WIMA metal film capacitors
  • Power consumption when idle ±35Watts
  • >66 lbs / 30 kg weight

Will consider reasonable trades (prefer DAC + transport; perhaps phono preamp, or just a preamp). PM please with proposed details.

Edit: Amps SOLD.

I admit never actually listening to these before, but I did repair one for a buddy once and they are absolutely built like brick-you-know-what's.  Really solid and high quality parts throughout.  Klaus does not mess around.

Wow, a pair of these when I bought them new just about the time they first came out, circa 2003, was around $1800.  Prices have gone up, but that was nine years ago. Time flies.

Oh, by the way, I loved them, and sold them when I got the urge to downsize. They are big and heavy.

03261 here.

The amps were sent in for a check up, and when I called to talk with Klaus told me he'd put in some parts (about $350 worth) while they were with him. I didn't ask what he was going to install; I've learned to trust Klaus as a man of his word, and his products and the way they perform speak for themselves.

I've heard these amps and they're wonderful. If I had the money, I'd be getting them for myself. That price sure seems more than fair.

Good luck on the sale. Somebody is going to enjoy these.  :thumb:

Klaus let me know that the amps have shipped from Odyssey, and he swapped out all the transformers for the "new,  kick-ass Toroids". Amps should be in NH next Wednesday. I love working with Klaus!   AMPS ARE ALREADY HERE!

Dropped price to $1,700 for today only for Vets or active duty members, read top post.
It is very kind of you to offer the lower price to Vets and Active Duty members of the Armed Forces.
Since 1991 I have Deployed 3 times as a Air Force Reservist. You might be very surprised at the amount of Guard and Reserve Forces that are engaged as we speak. Over half of my unit is in Helmand Province right now. 943rd Rescue Group. Would you consider the Reserve folks as well?

Thank you for your kind comments, let me think about it. I was active duty Army artillery and am a Vet; however, it's easy to see how Reserves and NG are repeatedly being used in ways that are akin to active duty personnel. Please PM me. And again, thanks to all service members out there, especially those who wrestled for our freedom and sacrificed their lives - you and your family members are not forgotten.

Including Reserves / NG. Thanks for the input.  :thumb:

Based on that I'd say yes.  I know my dad loves his with his Martin Logan L CLS IIZ's which are pretty hard to drive too.  They replaced Krell KMA-160's.  The Krell's are now on sub duty.
