I'm new to high end 2 channel audio and very limited in retail stores locally to audition new euipment. I live about 150 miles from Atlanta and will be in town this weekend. Where can I go to audition multiple brands? Do I need to make appointments?

Georgia Home Theater has a nice show room.  No appointments needed.  They have a nice McIntosh setup.  I brought my parents there who is the market for a Kaleidescape.

Just google them for the address.

Jon, perhaps some locals will reach out and offer some demos of their equipment.  I've always reached a higher level of performance by getting advice from buyers of gear who have already worked their way through the ropes.

I'm relatively close to Atlanta and would normally be glad to demo my SongTower setup, BUT I'm moving to a new house this weekend. That said, there are a couple of other SongTower owners in Atlanta. I'm sure Jim would be glad to facilitate a meeting.

If you are looking to get an overview of small to large budget, new or used I would agree with Audio Alternative. They have a ton of stuff to peruse through.

Slim pickins considering the population and wealth of the Atlanta metro area. Steve is a great guy and might be worth visiting. I've purchased from him and found him an honest and helpful person. Drop him a line to see what he has to demo which might be of interest:

There Audio Atlanta off the square in Mariettta (http://www.theaudioco.com/). I haven't shopped there, but the owner was very helpful in answering a turntable question. It's probably worth checking out.

If you want to have one of the best auditioning experiences ever, contact Steve at Playhouse Audio. He is the owner of one of the best concert venues in Atlanta, and he carries some of the best names in Audio. Iv'e been a customer of his for the past six years and he's had a huge impact on my system. In this case it is by appt, so here's the info...

Playhouse Audio
Steve Harris, owner
678-244-0451

He typically goes to most of the bigger audio shows like CES and RMAF and he's always up to date on the latest and greatest. He also has a reference system that you can listen to that will knock your socks off!

Tell him AJ sent you and he'll take good care of you :)
(and for the record, I get absolutely nothing out of that...just trying to help the guy out! ;)   )

EDIT: I just saw that Rockadanny made the same suggestion...I guess that goes to show what a great guy Steve is! lol

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have emailed Steve at Playhouse Audio for an appointment and will likely visit Audio Alternative.
