Waiting anxiously!

james

I have just returned James. I have to say thank you to Vipers for organising a really excellent day, Everyone I spoke to was very very impressed with all that they heard. I think the best reaction of the day for me was in the cinema room (SP3/4BSST2/9BSST2) with PMC Twenties all round, when Tom played his SPL demo disk of some drumming, the other guys in the room had never heard the SP3 before and I think the loudest noise was their jaws hitting the floor  :thumb:

There was also the BDP-1/BDA-1/BP26 driving the PMC IB2 XBDS-A - which was my personal highlight, I asked Tom to stand the OB1's like mine alongside for a comparison.....I think I need a bigger house:

Cheers

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who came along today and made it such a success :thumb: It is always a worry that no one will turn up but it was a fantastic turnout, it's great at last to be able to put faces to names.

I'm never happier than when I'm talking PMC and Bryston so today was brilliant fun, hopefully I managed to get round to everyone to say high, if not I apologise. I think it is fair to say that the IB2 XBDS-A's stole the show though and made more than a few people very happy and some others contemplating how they could get them past their wifes, On that note Mrs Vipers also had a great day and enjoyed chatting to everyone and has said that I can't have them ....... in Orange but Graphite would be very nice indeed :P

Not to forget the SP3, it got a fantastic response with some serious interest from a couple of guys, it sounded particularly good with a couple of Music videos that Tom bought in, and in the end we had 3 BDP-1's on demo, one in each room and sounded amazing on every system but on the IB's it was just pure perfection :D

Finally a big thank you to PMC for supporting the day and especially to Tom for being so helpful and making it so much fun

Right, time for a Guinness or two :)

Hey Vipers,

It was a fantastic day. And I am so glad I made it! You did a stirling job, well done. I felt looked after & I'm sure that was a feeling shared amongst the others.
It's always good to see Tom, aswell.  I like his approach & general demeanour.

The SP3 room was impressive. And it makes me even happier to own the twenty 24s, since they excelled in that room. Somehow the set up was even greater than the sum of its parts. Excellent!
Do I want an SP3?  Oh oh oh oh oh  :duh:

But how can you even conceive of leaving the main showroom floor after listening to the IB2s?
I've heard NOTHING like them. I haven't stopped thinking about ways to afford them. My friend & I spent the remainder of the day together & that was still top of the discussion.
What really puzzled us was the way they envelope you with sound, a lot of sound and with some serious volume. Yet our ears didn't ring, we didn't feel it was excessive and they did it with grace & ease. I couldn't see the musicians right there in front of me, but I could certainly smell the breath.
They have thrown all of my well laid plans out the window. Frustration and robbery will ensue...

I think there were 3 BDP's doing doing an amazing job, there was a funny moment in one of the rooms on Saturday when someone held up a CD to try and there was the kind of "what do we do with that look..."  :nono:

Thanks Kyri, it was great to get the chance to catch up, it was a real struggle making sure that I got round to everyone and to make sure that they all got what they wanted out of the day, knackered today though, especially after getting up at 5am to watch the GP. I was really pleased to see you when you came into our SP3 demo room as I just knew you were one guy who would really appreciate all the toys we had on display, a fellow Bryston/PMC die hard

Your not the only one trying to figure the best way forward to acquire a pair of active IB's, we've got round to discussing what colour to go for so it's looking promising, just need to move on the MB2i's now.

We've got the IB2's for another couple of days so if you are passing within 100 miles or so you may want to pop in for another listen, or maybe you'd rather erase the whole experience and just enjoy those great 24's you've just got :)

They work brilliantly with the SP3 as you know

Alpha, have you shown that picture to Mrs Alpha yet?

You've got to start the journey somewhere  and like you say, in the blue they'll match your LED's a treat, they will just blend in and almost be discreet, if any one can, you can :icon_twisted:

I've lost track of that amount of times I have said that over the last few years, I've now deleted it from my vocabulary, it just gets in the way of having fun

It certainly steers you in the direction of fun, to argue against that would be very churlish.

I think I'm going to delete you from my vocabulary!  The only 'sensible' option otherwise, is to move in with you once Mrs Vipers signs that cheque.

I'll run it past Mrs Vipers but I fear she would be hogging them for some time to come.

If we did go ahead and get a pair maybe we could start a business charging something like £10 per hour to bring your own music and come and listen :) we had a guy in today who was also in Saturday, he just couldn't resist one more listen, he described the sound as totally addictive, it would be like track days for HiFi, you could be our first customer Kyri

Hey Vipers,

What is the U.K. MSRP on those blue meanies?  I'd think significantly more than here in Canada, after adjusting for exchange.  Not that I'm in the market - but it's always good to keep your hopes and dreams in perspective... :green:

Vipers,

I'm there.  I mean it, I'm there! I could leave my bag of beer tokens at the door & you could help yourselves to what I owe you.  As long as I get to take the bag home for refills!

Soundgame, they are £27,000.  £20,000 for the main units & £7,000 for the lower sub unit. Approximately 1500 watts per channel.

You'd better make it a big bag Kyri, as I can imagine you would be listening for some time and I really like my beer

Unfortunately the IB's are going back early tomorrow morning, so I gave them one last blast this evening before leaving work with an absolute classic, Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, obvioulsy I have never heard it sound so good, I'm really going to miss these speakers

I feel for you.  You'll have to make do with that rather nice Meridian mini - system now!

I've had 2 complaints by 2 people who work at Zinc today as we have had to go back to our Meridian DSP7200 speakers, at £17,000 they are no bargain basement, but they are saying they sound like an Ipod dock with speakers compared to the IB2 XBD's, I guess when you have been used to caviar it is very difficult to go back to beans on toast, it's a tough life

Beans & toast for £17,000; I hate to be the sucker that buys a pair of them.

It's all in context I guess, I actually really like beans on toast :)

Seriously though for £17,000 you can buy the top 'master' part of the IB2S XBD-A and that would far out perform the Meridian DSP7200's and you could even add the XBD bottom cabinet at a later date if required.
