I've recently purchased a few Bryston products - x2 7BSTs, a 3B THX and a SP1.7. I moved from Meridian Audio after 25 years due to poor/no service. My joint first reason (along with sound quality) was the warranty and the faith that Bryston show in their products!!
Unfortunately, the 7B's both broke down a few days after purchase - one after another, just before xmas!! These are both with PMC at the moment (excellent, excellent guys!).
I have just bought a 3B THX today and purchased a SP1.7 a few days ago (after selling my 561 Meridian processor . I wonder if anyone could help...
I received the Sp1.7 yesterday and just cannot get it to work ! The test signal does not produce anything with the digital inputs (digital led goes/stays red).Analogue inputs do not produce anything either. I have set up the speaker types according to the manual. I have also attached a centre and rear speakers - all have no sound!
Am I missing something? Or am I going to have to visit my friends at PMC again (the other amps will be completed in another few weeks so I am without a system (still)!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Amirk

I assume this gear is used?  Was it working when you purchased it?

Hi James,

I am assured by the dealer that the SP 1.7 amp was working. They took it out of a working install and sold it to me on behalf of a customer.

Very strange - I guess you should have PMC look at it for.

I managed to get it working..

After speaking with the dealer - John from Acoustic Images in Dublin, I decided to change the fuses - even though they both seemed fine on visual inspection.

I'd  thought that it could not be anything to do with them as the unit was lighting up correctly and the front display was working. What a relief !

Upon testing, one fuse has 'blown' but seems perfectly fine - it must have become  detached from one cap/end of fuse during transit.

The pre amp sounds excellent allied to the 3B THX and a pair of Martin Logan Quest speakers!
