I'm looking to build a set of Super V's, 97db efficient. Danny Richie GR-Research design.

It seems the more I know about tube amps the less I know

Someone help take control of this rudder. Agon has 50 million tube amps for sale of every configuration - SET, Push-pull, Triode, Diode, Pentode, ultra-linear, non-linear, 300B, KT88, EL34, Cary, Dodd, Niteshade, Lamm. My original intention was to go with PrimaLuna but I don't think I need that much power.

I just sold my Pass Labs 350.5. I wish to go cheaper to add in cable or room treatment. My pre is world class so an integrated is not needed. I want something I won't want to sell in 6 months  :)

Don't think I need much power. I listen to all kinds of music. Any help out there?

Michael,

How many watts do you think you'd need?

What does Danny use?  Dodd.
Write Gary and ask him what he would reccommend.  He has a pair of V1's at his house right now.  He could give some advice on system synergy issues he has encountered.

Check out this thread.

You need a 24 tube mono amp if you buy the LS9's.  Honestly I know nothing about the Allnic L3000.

From everything I have heard the super V is a very efficient speaker.  Perhaps that is the starting place.

I did find this staement from a guy selling his L3000 on Audiogon.  Hope it helps

"For full specs and the user's manual in pdf format, see the website of the North American distributor, Hammertone Audio. My only caveat about this preamp is that it mates best with power amplifiers, tube or solid-state, with input impedances of 10 kOhms or higher. This means almost all power amps."

I'm liking what I've read about the Decware Zen Torii MK III. 24 SET watts.

FWIW it is push-pull, not single ended.

These are the best I have ever heard in a tube amp.

They are a SET amp.

Also push-pull:
"the KE-50A represents the closest approach I've heard from a push-pull power amp to single-ended triode magic, but with sufficient dynamic headroom to drive a significant subset of real-world loudspeakers."

Suc.  I have to trust others when it comes to tube amps.  I have a limited listening experience.  I was told it was a SET amp when I listened.  Maybe he said SET like.  It was last year.  That's my excuse.

It was a great sounding amp.  Sell one of the cars and ride a bike for 5 years.
