SOLD: Warpspeed V4 LDR preamp, $325
« on: 16 Jan 2012, 08:26 am »
Warpspeed V4
LDR passive preamp
1 input, 2 outputs

$325 including shipping and PayPal fees

I received this from Allan Flores just before the holidays.  I've taken it out of the box to verify that it works, and it has a grand total of having been powered on for all of 10 minutes.

Why am I selling?  If I had a power amplifier I'd probably be using it right now.  But between when I received it and the two weeks that had elapsed before I took it out of the box, I had decided to simplify my rig and move toward an integrated.

It is practically brand new unless you think 10 minutes somehow makes it much the worse for wear.  An honest to goodness brand new unit from the manufacture is more than my asking price by about $110 including PayPal fees and shipping.  So a virtually brand new unit for about 25% less.  I think it's a good deal.

I should add that Allan Flores was a total prince making the Warpspeed for me.  He forecasted pretty accurately how long it would take before he could make one for me, let me know as soon as he started working on it.  Sent me a picture before it was sent out.  Followed up with me to confirm that I had received it, etc.  A really swell guy.

The quality of construction is very good all around.  It's both handsome and compact.  I would not be surprised at all if he raises his prices in the future -- in fact, I think he really ought to.  It's a steal at his current asking prices and I can't imagine such pricing will last for much longer.

The unit sounds good too, but I really didn't want to listen to it for very long, just a 10 minute test to make sure everything was solid and working before I sent it along to the next owner.

If I had kept my power amplifier, no doubt I would have kept the Warpspeed.  But I've simplified my system.  No preamp, no power amp, no tubes.  A solid state integrated.  I'll post a review in a few weeks after I've given it more of a chance to settle in.

Does he have a site? How do you order one?

You can PM Allan here on audiocircle.  I think his handle is Warpspeed CE.

You can find his posts all throughout the Warpspeed Octocoupler threads here as well.

From start to finish, Allan took less than 10 days to build my V4 preamp & ship it to me...the exact same preamp as pictured above.  I couldn't be happier w/my LDR purchase.

Thanks Allan  :D

I was following the "Warpspeed Octocoupler" thread and read that the T@W Neutrino will be on indefinite hold.  :(
Yesterday wilsynet placed the ad and at breakfast a pm went out, and the purchase was made.
Wilsynet shipped the WS today and I hope to recieve it in a couple of days.  :thumb:

The WS will be in an all ss system and run off of a 12v battery power supply that I use for my tansport as well.

I'll post my findings in the WS Octocoupler thread.

Chris
