G.E.M. Dandy Record Cleaning System
« on: 11 Jan 2012, 03:55 pm »
I'm going to digitally archive my old LPs  and was looking for ways to clean them. I always used a discwasher years ago, but I want to start with them as clean as possible without spending ridiculous money. Ran across this:

and was wondering if any here had experience with it?

I appreciate any input y'all are willing to give.

I'm very happy with mine. Most reviewers agree it's at least as effective as a RCM but a lot cheaper. The complaint always seems to be that it's messy. I would agree about the mess if all you had was a kitchen sink. When used in a deeper utility tub, there's no problem at all.

In a somewhat similar vein, I had considered this when I was into vinyl

More expensive, but it has a motor to spin the record to use centrifugal force to remove the dirty water/solution.

I have it and I have no utility tub. Therefore, I do not use the high pressure stream method. The fluid that comes with it is most intoxicating, I have to keep the sprayer in a plastic bag or my whole house would reek!

I use the record holding apparatus to good advantage when I steam clean records. So, guess I'm not using it as intended. I do use the stinky fluid with the steam cleaning, however.

The longer I'm in this thing, the more I use my Loricraft RCM.
