Just saw on TechMeme this morning that they were demoing the "AirDac" at CES, supposed to be a low-cost streaming audio transmitter/receiver combination. Two versions of transmitter, with USB or with Apple connector, receiver has RCA outputs only (no digital). No detailed specs or prices available yet, according to the reviewer.
He said they had it set up with an Icon amp and speakers, and sounded good to him.
Without knowing cost, it's hard to say how the market may receive it, but seems to me it would get heavy competition from SqueezeBox Touch with the audiophile set, and Airtunes with the masses. No digital out on the rcvr would be a stopper for me.
