Remix of a song for which is your favorite, not a cover of the original. That probably narrows the selection to songs in the last 30 years, but so be it.
Mine: Take likely my favorite band of all time, Tool, for anyone who hasn't read this forum for years and remix is by one of the founders of a genre I was completely obsessed about for the latter part of high school and into college, namely industrial. Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails and all litter of incestuous side projects were a constant in those days.
My choice is Tool's Stinkfist, off Aenima, released in my junior year of college remixed by Skinny Puppy. The quality is utter crap, but the remix somehow is faithful to both band's sounds in a way I could never have imagined had I not heard it myself.
