Not a fan of the plywood look but the arm looks like an improvement over the multi-tower Amadeus arm.

Plywood no.... Arm improvement?  Only in that now it can be sold separately for those in need of a great arm... ie VPI, etc.

It is ply with veneer on top.  I like it!

Based on the comments in regards to the power supply improvements, I suspect the ply is a better base than the WTA.

I wonder if there is some range to adjust overhang on this new arm.

It's birch ply.
Doubtful.
No.

Having the arm hanger, damping pot and arm rest on one platform (like the original WT arm) is much easier to set up and adjust than the Amadeus' 3 towers.

 :thumb:

With ply veneer/wood being cited as being desirable for TT plinths it makes you wonder they bothered with acrylic and aluminium/acrylic variants ?

Am I alone in thinking the original Well Tempered Turntable with plain black plinth is still the best looking of all the WT designs ?

For some maybe.
Different markets.
Probably.

I was told I babble on, so I've adjusted my word usage. :)

Though not nearly as well isolated I expect.

Will be interesting to see the price point of the "Versalex."

According to links above, the arm is $1500, the table (incl arm) $4500.

At first glance the WTA design allows for a wider range of adjustment of the arm hanger and golf ball cylinder. Not sure exactly how much adjustment range is unnecessary. Mighty interesting tho...

Your opinion.  I would bet a few dollars that the power supply doesn't make the servo drive better but rather, reduces motor vibration, for which the current plinth isn't so adept at handling.  I would gladly welcome someone showing me what exactly the power supply does over the wallwart and in turn be proven wrong, perhaps.  I would find it fascinating to hear how the power supply makes the servo control better.  All water under the bridge as the table sounds great in any version.  Really great!

You would hear the difference if you had a chance to compare.
It's not only my opinion, but the opinion of the distributor and opinions of WTL dealers.

Btw, where did you get your table or where are you located? Maybe someone could get you an audition, if you're interested.

Threadkiller,

I am confused are you referring to the new table or the new power supply?

Yep... It seems like the market is all about wood these days...
Look at the new RP6 from Rega.. no wood trim and many of the Brits are having fits.  Probably a wise marketing move for WTL.
