Selling a Museatex Bitstram upgraded by John Wright upgraded in 2006 with the plus upgrade. This DAC competes with current model DACs and in most comparisons, still out performs and sound betters. The Bitstream DAC offers an excellent natural and musical sound with good details, never edgy or bright and never mushy or congested. Frequency extension at both extremes is excellent. They make listening to digital fun! The upgraded version by John Wright offers more of what the Bitstream sound offers. It is more musical with better details and a bigger soundstage. When it was modified by John Wright, John told me that it was one of the best modified Bitstreams he had measured. The upgrade includes the Black Gate capacitor upgrade which was an additional expense to the standard upgrade offered, plus upgraded digital and output RCA jacks (a big improvement over the stock RCA jacks) and IEC connection versus the cheap fixed power cable that the DAC originally came with. The Black Gate upgrade adds to the musical sound of the DAC with higher resolution, clarity, frequency extension and better bass definition. I preferred this modification to the newer version of the upgrades that are now being offered. It is simply much more musical. The DAC is in used condition and shows minor signs of wear; otherwise it sounds and performs perfectly. Museatex DACs are getting harder to come by so now is the time to purchase one for yourself, especially this version of the upgrade since black gate capacitors are no longer available.
