Audax certainly still make aerogel cones. Madisound used to sell these.

I must be more careful with my first opinions
After having an email conversation with Jon Keeble, an engineer from DEQX, he gave me suggestions which ended up with a better sounding unit analogue to analogue. The DEQX has so many parameters that indeed it is at home in a professional recording studio or theater as it is in my place.

Trying to get the best out of my system ànd the unit is a rewarding but tweaking process

This may take a while as in the mean time I am bi (tri) amping my system, selling my Martin Logans and follow the adventurous path of "desiging" a complete new loudspeaker system from scratch with the best loudspeakers ( within reasonable cost) the world offers. SEAS Excel, Accuton, PHL,Focal, Raven and others, as "designing " crossovers is with the DEQX a thing from the past. Or better a joyful journey to do.
The new system will be centered around DEQX and Aspen units Before I will have real conclusions which are valid to post it will be some months later.
As the DEQX is so wonderful flexible in its uniqueness, I want the best sound out of it which is technically possible.

Remember, Kyrill, this is yet another in the long line of Aussie invented products (alas, so many of them not commercialised here!).

I suspect your DEQX will sound even better after a Fosters or two!!

I cannot find the post of the gentleman who suggested to me that the Focal audiom 6WM midrange was one of the best he heard.
It turned out to be the speaker midrange I have choosen.
Living in Holland I ordered at NY !
Zalytron.com with very reasonable prices if I compare it world wide. The fine merchant who helped me was Elliot Z, with even (much) lower prices than the already low prices at their site.
I ordered 2x ribbon tweeters, Aurum Cantum G3. All over the internet they are over 350 dollars a piece. He asked 275 US $ a piece The rumour is that The Raven design team designed the Aurum Cantus (sensitivity: 100db/1 watt):



2 Focal 6wm each 140 US $  (sensitivity: 94.5 db/1 watt)watt)http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/compo/midrange/a_6wm.htm



and finally 2 Focal 10w6452 for 170 US $ (sensitivity: 90db/1 watt)

These are very reasonable prices relative to E-speakers.com for instance

I will have them digital active triamped by DEQX and powered with 3x AKSA 55 N+ with 2x GK1 as an "enhancer"between DEQX (preamp) outout
 and AKSA power input.
Too expensive relative to my income to use a GK1 for the woofer only.

The DEQX is sounding better and better, but I am now experimenting with the power supply.

R U sure that a 55 will be enough on the base?  I would've thought an AKSA 100 would be more appropriate ... upgraded to N+, of course, when Hugh releases this.

I hope that 90db /1 watt sensitivity and active triamping, so the Aksa only has to work beneath 100 or 200, will be enough to handle the very short peaks in the musical content. On the other hand the 10W6452 is not 90 db/1 watt under 100 hz. (85 db at 50 hz.)

I rarely listen above 100 decibel.

Well I guess you'll have to SIAS (that's an Aussie expression!).  It may be that your theorising is correct ... I guess I am going from a theoretical viewpoint which says that you need equal power above and below about 300Hz.

That happens to be the crossover point between my base panel and my mid panel in my Maggies, and I have 100w for the base and 55w+25w for the mid/ribbon ... so, theoretically I am slightly over-specced for the base.  However, there are several Maggie Forum members who say you need 400w plus for the base panels ... whereas I don't notice any problem!!

I think I rarely listen above 90dB.
