NOHR CD1 player... Repair or Get rid of it ?

Are schematics available for the CD1?
Shortly after the warrantee ran out...
My player has been sitting in a box for two years due to failure. I've contacted NOHR about schematics, but have had no satisfactory answers.

Should I repair it or get rid if it ?

What kinda failure? There is very little could go wrong with the CD1 so I am curious.

No one I know was successful in getting schematics from nOrh or the factory.

I too am curious as to what went wrong.

At first a faint hum on the audio outputs. Gradually increased until the hum was as at the same level as the music. Did all the usual trouble shooting stuff, new tubes & ect. Then total audio failure.

This unit was suppossed to be a giant killer so I was fooled into shelling out my money. No support at all from NOHR. The several times I contacted them, they were busy traveling the world. I guess cutomers do not count. 'JUST CASH THE CHECK' and run.
From this experience I wouldn't wish NOHR products on anyone

I was caught up in the hype. this was the worst $800 I've ever spent.

Anyone who works with tubes can repair the output stage without schematics.

If the hum is on both channels it's probably power supply related like a cap or a loose wire etc.

I'd call Dan Wright or Alex P to see if they can fix it. You may also want to ask them if this player can benefit from modifications. It's a solid player and I have heard of very few people who have had problems. Let us know what happens.

Agree with the others.

It'll be something really simple and anyone with a little experience and the right gear could fix.
