SP1.7 speaker crossover question
« on: 31 Dec 2011, 02:16 am »
Hello,

From the SP1.7 manual:
"Bass Management: 2nd Order HPF(x5), 4th Order LPF; 60 – 220 Hz Crossover Freq"

Does anyone know what the "(x5)" means?  I understand that the high pass filter is 2nd order, but what are the frequencies; do they match the selected crossover point?

What happens if I set the speaker crossover to 160Hz, will the high pass be 160Hz, 2nd order and the sub 160Hz 4th order?  Or does setting the main speakers to "Small" fix the high pass crossover frequency?  And if so, what is the frequency?

Hi Raiderone

The 5 is the five channels in the 5.1 system. if you use the 2 back channels on the single ended 7.1 they follow the rear channel settings.

Yes if the speakers are set to small the mains will roll off at 160 and the Sub will come up to 160 and roll off at 24dB.

By the way 160 is very high for a sub/sat setting. Typically you want it around 80Hz.
