First foray into computer audio and I am grinding my teeth. What am I doing wrong? Cannot get a signal from BDP-1 to W4S DAC2, either through AES/EBU or BNC out.

I dutifully powered up, followed the instructions and inserted the supplied flash drive with the hi res songs on it into front panbel USB input. The W4S DAC2 accepts and plays hi res music but I have never played anything but Redbook CD's, a Wadia 170i with an iPod and a DVD player through it, all with no problems. But nothing is coming out of the BDP-1. The song looks like it is playing on the BDP-1 (the Play arrow shows) but no sound comes out. Pressing Play does nothing, only the right arrow makes a song play. Next and Back also do nothing, and one song does not automatically lead into the next.

I am sure the AES/EBU connection is tight, and switching to BNC makes no difference. When I switch back to my transport, AES/EBU plays fine through the DAC. There is no signal coming from BDP-1 to the DAC and I can tell because no resolution numbers show up.

I am lost. Help!

Sorry you are having problems. Is the included USB the blue colored one? If so they are 192/24 files with 2 files at 96/24. I am just wondering if your DAC will play 192 Native files?

Also when you see the USB just hit Play - don't load the first song. That way it will play each song in order.

The third song and the seventh are at 96/24 so see if they play.

I looked up your Dac and it looks like it can do 192 - the only other thing I can think of is the sound card has become disconnected from the mother board. Where did you purchase the BDP and what is the serial number?

Thank you for your reply. I emailed a rely to your email to me, but here is additional info:

Purchased from Gasz Akustic in Rancho Cordova, CA, listed as authorized Bryston dealer. Serial No. 000596.

I connected the unit to my home network, no problem there. Attached an external HD with iTunes library on it and also plugged in the preloaded USB drive with hi-res music that came with unit. Downloaded MAX, again no problem. It recognizes both HD and flash drive, lists the songs, I hit Add All, pick a song, but when I press Play arrow, nothing happened. The song is not playing, stays at 0:00. Very puzzling.

James is a genius, and incredibly helpful and responsive.

He suggested checking to see if the sound card loosened during shipment. I opened up the unit (at James's suggestion) and sure enough, the card was loose. Snapped it back in and voila! As I always tell my 2 sons, virtually almost all electronic device hiccups are a result of human error.

Kudos again to James for helping me out on Xmas Eve, and for an amazing product!

I appear to be in a similar boat.  Just received my unit -- everything appears to work fine but there is no output, either to a BDA-1 or Weiss DAC202.  How, out of curiosity, did you open the case to check the sound card?  The case screws appear to be unusual.  Thanks, Alex
