I notice that you set yours with the tweeters on the outside. Going for the wider soundstage?

Hi,

Yes I have had a number of Magnepans in this room over the years and it just seems to work better with the tweeters on the outside.  I have to admit though that my bias is for a bigger stage.

Yes it does seem like I get carried away sometimes but I think it is important that I live with the kind of speakers our customers tend to purchase as it gives me a much better perspective on how these different products interface with our amps and electronics.

That sounds like justification  for complaints from  the "Minister of domestic affairs" James!

Well folks hooked up the 3.7's last night and settled into what I thought would be a few hours of blissful listening. For the first half hour no matter how hard I tried they just sounded dull and lifeless . So I figure "break in issues" - let it run overnight and listen again in the morning. This morning no change - GEZZZZ's what have I done

So like most inept audiophiles I decided to read the Owners Manual - guess what? -- the speakers come with the tweeters disconnected

I did the exact same thing with a pair of 3.5Rs once.  I was silently thinking to myself.......boy was this a mistake.  I then realized, you have to have the resistors inserted or the tweeter does not even work!

The tweeters are on the inside because that is what Wendell Diller of Magnepan recommended. I have not tried them on the outside yet, but HP reports that the 3.7s lose some image focus and soundstage perspective with the tweets on the outside.

So how do they sound with the tweeters connected?

Also Greg with the severe toe- in they need for maximum phase integrity I find the tweeters outside is not to much of an issue - at least in my room.

Never tried the resistors myself. I don't think the speakers are to bright so I just run em without.

Funny, I had the tweeters on the outside with my 1.7s but on the inside with the 3.7s. Haven't had them that long so sometime in the future I'll move them to the outside again and see which I prefer.
