I’m currently re-ripping with dBPowerAmps all my WAV music files in uncompressed FLAC and found a really neat way of getting missing or non-existent cover art by scanning the CD cover art right in the dBPowerAmps program.  I have many older CD’s of Baroque / Classical music and often cover art does not appear in the program or is incorrect artwork.  I hope there are others that could use the following information if like me they did not know the software provided this feature:

Open the ripping program and if the cover artwork does not appear bottom right or is incorrect cover art then place CD cover art (booklet) on your printer / scanner flatbed and then click on the negative sign to get rid of incorrect cover art.  Then click on the plus sign and choose “Acquire (from scanner)” from the list of options.  Magically a window opens for selections like colour etc. and clicking “preview” get an image to move to the top left of the page.  Then click on “Scan” and the image will magically appear in the correct location at the bottom right of the program page where the cover art normally appears if available.  I assume this will work for any printer / scanner as the feature is in the software not in my printer / scanner.

This will provide the necessary Folder.jpg image in the ripped CD file.

I often go to Google images and search, you would be amazed at all the cover work people have posted (UK and US often have different covers), then simply press the + sign and paste, simple!

Thanks for the tip. Not knowing how to add album art was driving me nuts about a year ago, then I ran into Media Monkey. I use this to update tags and album art. Just install the app navigate to the album folder with the app then click Tools -> Auto Tag from Web. The popup will show search results of the album. WARNING: be sure to uncheck everything you do not want to update and leaved 'Cover' checked, then click Auto-Tag. That's it.

I have used Album Art Downloader from Sourceforge quite successfully. It is a free program that works well. All you have to do is download the file and using the + command above the art in dBpoweramp and choose "load file" command.

Amazon.com will also have some obscure album art uploaded by users. I've found some stuff on there that I couldn't find a decent image of on Google.
